Liver cancer is the sixth most common cancer in worldwide and it is the second most common cause of death from cancer. WHO estimates that 7,88 ,000 people die from primary liver cancer every year. Hepatocellular carcinoma has been recognized as a leading cause of death among patients with cirrhosis, and its incidence is expected to increase in the future. More than half of these deaths (60%) are caused by the long-term consequences of chronic hepatitis B and C infections.
